I was thrilled to work with AKQA and Rakuten on developing a new vision for their newly acquired brand, Viber. Our goal was to elevate the brand, making it feel more grounded and sophisticated, aiming to expand its audience and set it apart from direct competitors. We embraced a bold, fresh design approach that could adapt to everyone’s individuality, morphing to match moods, circumstances, and other factors.
As Art Director, I was responsible for developing design principles, shaping the design language, and guiding the art direction for this proposal. Our vision was all about being full frame, full colour, and fully engaging—capturing the essence of individuality and connection. The aim was to evoke a sense of self-expression while maintaining a sense of community and meaningful connections, bursting with energy and playfulness.
